Creedence Clearwater Revival Day 2 performance at Woodstock was delayed
from a Saturday night start to Sunday morning (around 12:30 AM) because of
both Saturday's rain delays and the excessively long set by the prior band,
the Grateful Dead. Creedence blasted open their set with “Born On The
Bayou” from their second album Bayou Country. This was followed by
the title track from their just-released album Green River, which had
also been a sizeable U.S. hit (climbing to #2 in the Billboard chart).
The Woodstock recording of “Green River” was first released in 1994 on
Woodstock: Three Days of Peace and Music, a 4-CD live box-set album
of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. It's release marked the
25th Anniversary of the festival.
