"The Infidel" is a song written by Rex Fowler and is the fourth track
on Side 1 of Aztec Two-Step's eponymous debut album,
released on February 4, 1972 by Elektra Records.
Aztec Two-Step is an American folk-rock band formed by Rex Fowler and
Neal Shulman at a chance meeting on an open stage performance at
a Boston coffee house, The Stone Phoenix, in 1971. Within a year, they
had a contract with Elektra Records to make their first album. Although
never having a Top 40 hit record, they are noted for longevity as a duo
with a career of more than 40 years of performing together. They released
over a dozen studio albums between 1972 and 2017 until Neal Schulman's
retirement in 2018. In 1999, they were the subjects of the documentary,
“No Hit Wonder,” which was aired on several PBS stations across America.
