"I'm Free" is a song written by Pete Townshend and performed by the Who
on their 1969 album Tommy. The song was released as a single, becoming
one of the best known tracks from Tommy. The single peaked at #37 on
Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 Pop chart.
Tommy is the fourth studio album by the English rock band the Who, a
double album first released on 17 May 1969. The album was mostly
composed by guitarist Pete Townshend, and is a rock opera that tells
the story of Tommy Walker, a "deaf, dumb and blind" boy, including his
experiences with life and his relationship with his family. The LP peaked
at #4 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.
