"One in a Hundred" is a song written by Gene Clark. It was originally
released in 1971 on his second solo album White Light. It would be
recorded again in late 1972 with the five original members of the Byrds
for their 1973 reunion album Byrds. The song would not be included on
the album and instead Clark would release the recording on his 1973
album Roadmaster. In 2014, the recording would be included on Byrds
as a CD bonus track.
Roadmaster is the third studio album by Gene Clark, released in January
1973. The album was compiled from various unreleased recordings for
A&M Records made in 1970 through 1972. Initially released only in the
Netherlands and later in Japan and Germany, it was reissued on
compact disc for the American market in 1994.
Harold Eugene Clark (November 17, 1944 – May 24, 1991) was an American
singer-songwriter and founding member of the folk rock band the Byrds.
He was the Byrds' principal songwriter between 1964 and early 1966,
writing most of the band's best-known originals from this period.
He left the group in early 1966 to begin a solo career. Clark
was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991
as a member of the Byrds.
