"Sister Morphine" is a song written by Marianne Faithfull, Mick Jagger
and Keith Richards. Faithfull released the original version of the song
as the B-side to her Decca Records single "Something Better" in
February 1969. A different version was released two years later
by the Rolling Stones for their 1971 album Sticky Fingers.
The Stones' version, with slightly different lyrics, featured Jagger on
vocals, Richards on acoustic guitar, Ry Cooder on slide guitar, Jack
Nitzsche on piano, Bill Wyman on bass, and Charlie Watts on drums.
Sticky Fingers is the ninth studio album by the English rock band the
Rolling Stones. It was released on 23 April 1971 on the Rolling Stones'
new label, Rolling Stones Records. Sticky Fingers is widely regarded as
one of the Rolling Stones' best albums. It was the band's first album to
reach number one on both the UK albums and US albums charts, and
has since achieved triple platinum certification in the US.
