"You Never Give Me Your Money" is a song by the English rock band
the Beatles. It was written by Paul McCartney (and credited to
Lennon–McCartney), and thematically documents the personal
difficulties the band was facing.
The centerpiece of the Side B medley on Abbey Road, it pays tribute
to the band itself and the internal struggles that by then had fatally
wounded their relationship. With their problems tearing them apart,
Lennon privately announced on 20 September 1969 that he intended
to quit. McCartney broke the news that The Beatles were finished
by announcing, in April 1970, that he too was leaving the band.
Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by the English rock band
the Beatles, released on 26 September 1969 by Apple Records. The
album's initially mixed reviews were contrasted by it's immediate
commercial success, topping record charts in the UK and US.
